. . . and I like it. The car runs strong, no leaks and no turbo this time around. CONSIt was missing the radio, needs a good detailing, but other than age-related issues (the car, not me) I'm pretty satisfied. After noting things to the seller like the cracked drivers side mirror, the peach colored paint that had splashed over a rim, the two front headlight wipers broken, the radio missing, and the odometer not working I was able to negotiate him down to $800--AND when I asked the seller about the last timing belt change, and the certainty of me having to perform that service just to protect my investment, I almost started feeling guilty soI stopped and signed the title and became the proud owner.
So on my way home I stop at the pick and pull and find a Volvo model 811 radio from a really-good-condition-for-a-wrecked 94 850 and a few bulbs which I'll need later for sure, an odomter for $15 (which had been already disconnected and just sitting in the seat waiting for me, except it has 265,000 miles regtistering on it, but I still got it so I'll be asking advice on how to test it before I install it. The moonroof headliner is nonexistent, and I have no idea how they took it out unless someone had disconnected some part of the headliner at some point. I've seen a couple in a few cars here and would appreciate pointing me to the remove and replace instructions.
Now, the radio. Since there is just this big gap in the dashboard where the radio goes, I come out of the pick and pull and plugged the newly-acquired
one and my car won't start. All of the dashboard lights come on and the flahsers are flashing. Try to crank the car agaqin, but it's dead. So I figure the radio has a Anti-theft device the triggered meltdown, disconnected the battery and power was restored. I'll need to figure out how to get the codes entered or the right radio or whatever, bo all-in-all it's been a great day!, and I now have some small projects to look forward to this spring or when the weather gets a bit warmer here if I still have income then...
Thank you all, and Klaus I'm serious about the dinner. Maybe I'll send you a TV dinner (do they still make those?)...
