850 pipe behind fuel filter 850 1996

So today I decided to replace my fuel filter. Probably not the best idea when its freezing out, but I figured what the heck. Anyway, In my haste to get the job done, after I get the new one in, I notice that the connection in the plastic pipe has broken. Is this the EVAP hose that runs back to the tank and keeps vapor pressure down? If it is, then I assume its the reason for my P0455 I've had for a few months. It seems like the T-connector that goes to the little filter (regulator?) is on its way out too, basically that whole pipe could use replacing.. How important is it, I've yet to start it because the pessimist in my tells me I'll start spurting fuel..
