Replacing Radiator and Reciever Dryer V70-XC70

SOS - attempting to replace my wife's radiator (2002 v70 T-5 Turbo) I'm right in the thick of it. Do i need to remove the receiver dryer with the radiator? If so, that means detaching AC lines (receiver dryer connector) that means I am discharging the AC System, yes? If so, I've never done this. Can the car run with refrigerant until I get the system recharged. Does it damage the ac system at all.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
