Cold Weather and CK Engine light!!! 850 1996

Now that winter has arrived my ck engine light has come on with no apparent reason??? The light came on in Nov and has not gone out. The car is starting fine and runs well. This happened last year also and our mechanic said to let it be as long as the car was running well?

The light went away after the temps were above 32 most every day.

Should we take it in and have the code checked anyways??
