Turning steering wheel causes car to shake S70 2000

I stopped in an inch or 2 of loosely pack snow and when I turned the steering wheel and the car shook. The clutch was fully depressed. This never happens under normal circumstances.

Does anyone know what this problem is symptomatic of? Does it need immediate attention or can it wait until my next maint. in early Feb.? I know the description is brief. So, I welcome Q's.
