Hi! I am planning on being the owner of a '96 850 Turbo this week if all
goes well. I would appreciate it if somebody could give me some answers to
the following queries -
1. The leather on the handrests (on the doors) for the rear passenger seats
have some tears. Can this be repaired at home ? If so, how ?
2. I am totally confused about the resale value of the 850 Turbo Sedan.
I looked up Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds and here are the prices (Kelley's
Blue Book gives only Trade-In and Retail prices where as Edmunds also
lists the price if one were to get it from a private buyer).
All prices below are for 850 Sedan variants
850 -GLT Edmunds(Private-$14,518/Retail-$16,324) KBB(Retail-$18,050)
-STD Turbo Edmunds(Private-$16,961/Retail-$18,680) KBB(Retail-20,240)
-R Turbo Edmunds (Private-$17,819/Retail-$20,026) KBB(Retail-$23,065)
Comparing just the retail prices it seems like Edmunds and KBB are atleast
$1500 apart !! How can I come up with a reasonable estimate. Please help!!!
I don't want to overpay. I think the sedan is a 850 STD Turbo
because at the back all it says is TURBO and not R-TURBO or anything like that.
If it is any help, the car is loaded with every option and is in good
condition except for a couple of dings and the damaged leather on the
handrests that I mentioned at the beginning of the message. I also took it to a Volvo mechanic who identified some repair due to wear and tear that
could run to $450. I am buying it from a private user and so I have to factor that cost when I make the offer.
If anyone can advice me on the price for this sedan I would be most
grateful. Thanks in advance.
