I have been buying Volvos coming off-lease thru the Certified Preowned program. These vehicles come wired up to have the headlamps running in the daytime. We live in inland CA where summers can get quite hot.
On two different vehicles (2004 S60, 2006 V70), when changing the headlight bulb, I have found the black plastic electronics connector to the low-beam bulb has disintegrated. My theory is that the combination of daytime headlamps and hot climate has led to thermal breakdown of the plastic material over the course of 5 years.
If anyone can provide a contact, I would like to bring this design issue to Volvo's attention. I would like to obtain replacement connectors that are made to withstand higher heat.
