Hello All:
My 2000 V70 with electronic climate control (ECC) has started having problems. After working fine for about a month and a half since I bought the car, the AC stopped blowing cold during a recent hot spell.
The AC compressor is short-cycling-- it never stays engaged for more than a few seconds. If I listen carefully, I hear what sounds like a relay clicking near the glovebox (so far I haven't been able to ascertain whether this happens at the same time the compressor is kicking off, but just based on relative timing, I'd say it's likely). I have noticed that it sounds like the AC system is starting to blow harder, but when the relay click happens, it stops.
This morning when I started the car, the recirc button and the AC off button orange LEDs were blinking on and off for a few seconds. I understand that this means that codes have been stored that can only be read with a proprietary
Volvo scan tool.
I'd really like to sort this out ASAP-- I'm leaving on a week's vacation to VT tomorrow (it's a 7 hour drive each way).
If you have suggestions, I'd like to hear them!
