I've got a weird problem manifesting in my Wife's 1995 940 and to a lesser extent in my 1998 c70 - Mysterious engine coolant loss.
The c70 blew a heater hose back in Late February. I replaced the hoses, but still suffered continuous leakage from the firewall block for more than a month. I gave up and bypassed the heater altogether with a "jumper hose". This was fine for several months. With Klaus' help, I recently fixed the AC system on the car (recharge + breadclips fixed it). With the AC system running, engine coolant started to vanish again. I keep looking for leaks, but I can't figure out where it's all going.
Last weekend, I installed a new firewall block, tube, and seal kit. I found a small split in the jumper hose and figured that my jury-rig fix was the problem. All seals are tight, and nothing appears to be leaking.
However. I am still gradually loosing coolant. I filled it on Saturday, and this AM, the low-coolant light came on. It seems to vanish rapidly when I run the AC system...

What is *really* bizarre, is the same thing is happening to my Wife's 1995 940. Her car needed a new compressor and a full AC recharge. I got that taken care of a couple weeks ago. Two days ago, she told me that the AC wasn't cooling as well. I figured that I had a leaking O-ring. But then she told me that the engine coolant was low, but after she topped it off, the AC system started to cool the cabin down again. Today she tells me that she's having to top up the reservoir every couple days and that the coolant begins to vanish when she runs the AC...

WTF? These systems are independent. I'm at a loss to understand what happening here.
Any ideas??
