Gasoline Gauge 850 1993

Well fellow Brickbaord members, I have a new problem. The gas gauge only reads about 3/4 or 16 gallons when full. I am thinking its probably the the floater on the gauge and planning on replacing it with a used one and have some questions:

1. What years are this units inter change able with my 93?

2. Any gaskets that I might need to buy when replacing the gauge?

3. Should I replace the gas pump since I would have the unit out?

4. What else could cause the above problem.
