Tire Rotation V70-XC70 2000

I just put a new set of unidirectional Michelin tires on the V70 XC SE -- nice and quiet ride. I asked the tire shop about the best rotation pattern for the XC and they said front to back would work just as well as a criss-cross pattern.

The front back rotation didn't net me a lot of miles on the previous directional tires (30K on 45K rated tires) so I'm wondering if anyone has gotten extended mileage out of criss-cross rotation with uni-directional tires?
