immobilizer S60

Is it possible to take the ignition (key and related signal hardware) and corresponding immobilizer control unit out of one 2002 S-60 in order to start and test the drive train in a second S-60 of the same year. I bought the second car at auction without a key and understand that I need to take it to the dealer to have it programmed. I would like to evaluate the drive train before that if possible by either bypassing the immobilizer circuit if possible of using the above components to do this. The component locater I have seen shows the control unit for the immobilizer circuit to be behind the center dash area, but I have not found it yet, any thoughts?
