1998 C70 222,000 miles. It was rough when I got it for $1500 almost 2 years ago. I'm well on the way to restoring/upgrading it to decent shape.
Does anyone have any info on the Laser-Cut Keys and Fobs found on the early FWD cars?
Do these cars have chips in the keys? Can they duplicated by anyone other than the dealer?
Does anyone have any information about how to reprogram a key fob? I've heard that there are other options, but know nothing.
Background
My C70 came with 2 keys a no fob. One key opens the driver's door and has rarely turned the ignition - maybe once or twice by luck. My other key opens nothing, but starts the car. I can't get into the trunk w/o the release handle on the driver's door and I can't lock my glove box... ever.
Bottom line is that I have no spare keys and I live in mortal fear of losing these keys or locking the keys in the car.
I think I have a valet key for the door and the ignition lock was replaced .
I expect that I would need to get new lock cylinders for the doors, trunk, glovebox, and ignition to get matched keys. This will require a lucky find at a junkyard
