I'd appreciate it if anyone could fill me in on any problems that you know of with the alarm system for the 2001 V70 T5. I read a reply to a message about V70 alarm problems (the message referred to DCS 88-18 and DCS 88-19, whatever those are), but the original message had expired. Sorry if this topic has already been covered.
I bought my 2001 V70 T5 with the Security Package (motion sensor, level sensor). Here are some of the problems that I've been having:
1) Alarm (horn and lights) starts when I press the "UNLOCK" or "LOCK" buttons on the remote. (Happens occasionally.)
2) Alarm does NOT turn itself OFF when I press the "UNLOCK" or "LOCK" buttons on the remote.
(Happens occasionally. One time, when the remote didn't turn off the alarm, I unlocked the door with the key, got the engine started, drove a few feet - and the alarm STILL didn't turn off!)
3) Level sensor doesn't seem to work. I've tried jumping up and down on the rear bumper after the alarm has been armed, but I can't get the alarm to go off. (I made sure that I had NOT pushed the button on the dash to put the alarm in "reduced sensitivity" mode, BTW.)
4) After I lock the car (and the alarm is armed), the alarm does not sound when I lift the door handle. (That's supposed to sound the alarm, isn't it?)
5) The alarm that senses motion inside the car works fine. I checked it out by pressing the "LOCK" button while I stayed inside the car, then moving around inside the car. No problem with that alarm, at least. The "Panic" alarm (red triangle on the remote) and safety lights (yellow button) seem to work fine, too.
I'd like to know if anyone knows about problems that Volvo is having with the V70's alarm - and if you've experienced any of these problems, what you've done about them.
Thanks,
Ray
