This one is for John O or Rich K. I read in a post yesterday that there is supposed to be a way to check viscous coupler functions with a floor jack and a torque wrench. Any truth to this, and if so, how?
I have over 55,000 miles on my AWD, and I am curious.
Also, thought I would mention my experience with PBR deluxe dustless front brake pads. In only a year, I destroyed a set of rotors by overheating them with these pads. The symptom was a delay in braking action when the pads/rotors were wet from a slight drizzle, until the pads/rotors dried off. I would have to exercise the brakes every 5 miles or so or expect a much longer time to stop.
The problem went away with new factory pads, and stopping seems to require much less petal pressure, and the stopping distance seems 20% shorter. I guess I will live with the dust.
