Engine Light 850 1995

Come on i need ur help. The check engine light is on with no codes. Codes show no problems 1-1-1. TCU was replace but light stayed on. I have read that the light stays on doing a self diagnostics test and will turn off after so many miles. Is this true and if so how long. Should i worry about the check engine light at all? Mechanic finds no problems in fact hes taken the car home for the past two nights to check it out with no problems noticed. your answers are appreciated... thanks
