I love my XC but the front seat belt retraction is a frustating problem. While under warrantee, which has now expired, it was replaced twice. Now it is showing evidence of reverting to its slack retraction once more. It is not so bad when it is on the driver's side, as an aware regular driver can take the precaution of insuring the belt is fully retracted prior to closing the door. When it is the passenger side belt, a common problem is that the unaware passenger exits and slams the door on the now protruding buckle, the buckle breaks the door reflector light/lens or scratches the paint as the door bounces back open. The system is so technically complicated that replacement is not a do-it-yourself job. Has anyone else had this problem or has there been a factory recall notice that covers XC's with over 50,000 miles and out of warrantee?
