temp guage pegs out to hot before car starts V70-XC70

2001 V70 non turbo/ yesterday my high engine temp message came up on the dash after car only ran 5 minutes.I checked the obvious coolant level oil etc After the car cooled down a few hours I turned the ignition to accessory power with out starting and the temp gauge immediately went to hot pegging out without the car running. Today I replaced the temp sensor and I still have the same issue I looked for a cut wire harness but found no chaffed or cut wires I"m puzzled on this one.I hope Klauss can help me"smile"
