V70 window repairs??? V70-XC70

I wonder if you all may know, my V70 (98) began to smoke a few days ago and of course soon after the main control (and all others stopped working) realizing the main control switch of course is the problem. I took the unit apart and discovered the contacts were a bit chard and after a hour or so (cleaning up what didn't burn) reinstalled the unit. It chattered again and it worked for a few minutes. Would you say the unit and motor need replacement or just the control switch? Many thanks!
