we have been long time volvo owners. 544's, 122's,140's, now in our driveway in the family is/are 78 244, my sons 79-245 with 400,000 miles, my other sons 83-245 with 217,000 and now my wifes 850. She really wanted one and we found her a nice one within our budget. It is a non-turbo, automatic,GLT. We are second owners and every service and repair, as simple as wiper blades, has been done at the local dealer. the car jusst had its 110,000 mile service and new belts (timing and serpentine), all fluids flushed and changed (tranny, brakes, radiator). Everything seems to be working fine. Before we bought it it went through a two hour inspection by an independent volvo mechanic, compression good and even, etc.
the local dealer said the oldest, longest milage, that has come through their door that they can rember had about 160,000 and the tranny was coming out. The only engines they had been in (deep) were due to neglect. So the question is how much life are peole getting forom these neat cars.
