SC-815 Radio 850 97 T5

Does anyone know what the female connector on the back of the SC-815 is for? my cd changer goes to one, then there is the antenna and power and speaker connectors. But what is that other one for? I'd like to enhance the performance of my stereo system by making the sound crisper, and/or reducing the amount of bass to the speakers and possibly sending it to a bass tube. I don't want lots of bass, in fact my bass control is dead in the middle. However, it seems like the bass is stressing the speakers just to the point of losing sound quality. Should I just upgrade my speakers, or will the mystery connector help my decision? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
