need expert opinion on turbo leak V70-XC70 98

I bought 98 V70 T5 a month ago.

Oil seems to be leaking from turbo unit. turbo unit is all soiled from underneath and drop of oil was hanging on it last time I looked. After 1000 miles I added a quart of oil. There is no blue or black smoke from exhaust. Turbo seems to be performing ok (though I can't compare, it's my first turbo volvo). 49k miles on car.

One volvo dealer said I need to replace turbo unit. Another said it's normal sippage (that one is where i bought it from, so he can be avoiding warranty service).

What to do?

And if i have to change it, is OEM replacement is good enough or there are better alternatives? (I was planning to mod this car maybe to 300hp +?)
