Loud kok! sound from suspension S70 1998

I get an occasional (once every 10miles or so) "kok"! sound whenever you take a sudden bump or when there is a dip on the road or through a speed bump.

I was told that one of the spring retaining cup at the strut is cracked. My question is: the cup is solid rubber, it shouldn't make a noise like "kok" rite?

Any other suspension component wear I should look out for?
