99 V70 Cat converter V70-XC70 1999

Hello all,

My 99 V70 Non Turbo had the cat separate at the head pipe flange. My friend owns a muffler shop and I had him temporarily weld it until my new cat comes in the mail. He did the best he could with out taking the whole thing apart so there is a small leak and you can hear it. I have no check engine light.

The funny thing is, I have run through two tanks of gas, and where i normally get
20-23 MPG, now i am getting 28 & 26.5 MPG. 26.5 was with the car loaded with video equipment driving from Boston to north adams MA a windy road with a lot of long up hill.

What is up with that?
