Replace speakers, keep enclosures

I want to replace/upgrade my rear speakers that are in "ht-259" enclosures. Can I fit aftermarket speakers in the original enclosures or do I have to ditch the boxes and use the grills that come with the new speakers? Specific brands or any old 6x9 (6x8?)?? Specifically my son has picked out Infinity Kappa 6x9's, I don't know why.

I'd rather keep the car's stock look, and especially don't want to advertise on the hatshelf that the car might have a new stereo in it (it doesn't, but somebody might break in to find out).
