Alarm & Keyless Entry 850 95

I just bought a 95 850 (base model) with factory installed keyless entry & alarm.

The remote has only one small gray button on a rectangular gray controller.

The problem is that when i picked up the car the remote op[erated the alarm and the locks, now the only way the locks will work with the remote is if I unlock the car with remote. The remote will not lock the car. The manual does not describe this remote but one with two buttons.

There is a sensor on the APillar with led lights and a nibbed button on a black triangular housing approx 1/2" thick and 1"x1".

What does the button on the Black A-Pillar housing do?

How do I effectively operate this remote?

Should the gate(wagon) also unlock by remote?
