Man, my luck needs to improve. Two weeks ago the fuel pump died suddenly. Fixed it pretty quick (once a replacement pump showed up).
Today the car stumbled and set a CEL near home and started running strangely. It recovered, but started going bad again pretty fast. Got it home and into the "repair bay" (a.k.a. my pergola carport)
CEL is a P0562 (low system voltage). I get clicks if I try to start it and the radio is now requesting an activation code. Clearly the car lost/experienced low electrical power. The computer was not wiped, but I'm not going to push my luck. The really weird bit is that everything else seems to have power. Seats, locks, lights, fan, etc.
In my experience, the typical culprits are usually battery/alternator/regulator/ground. I'm leaning towards the regulator/ground based on past experience.
Any diagnostic advice here? This is still my first 8/70 series car and there are systems I'm still not all that familiar with. I don't want to shotgun new parts at it, but I also need to fix it ASAP.
We *were* about to drive this car across the state for the Holiday, so thank goodness it went bad tonight and not tomorrow.
On days like this, I kinda miss my 1968 Amazon. So simple and easy to diagnose and maintain...
