I have had several 240 and 740 Volvos over the years, now thinking about to moving more modern. Probably 2002-2006 XC70, maybe a V70 but I like AWD and ground clearance.

Is there already a buyer's guide here I can't find or somewhere on line?

I would like help keeping straight major upgrades, any years to look for or avoid.

Also, A-W trans or Geartronic trans, what's the difference?

Also, how can I test the transfer case on a test drive to make sure it hasn't been ruined?
