850 v 740 Ride Quality 850 95

Purchased the 850 last week, 77K miles. Compared to my '91 740 wagon, the ride quality is harsh. My speculation on causes include:

- lower profile tires

- Not-exactly-new Pirelli's, while we usually use Michelins.

- Excessive shock/strut/bushing wear

- the 850 just has a stiffer, 'sportier' feel compared to the family wagon. More noticeable at low speeds, but smooth and tight on the highway.

The last option is what the seller told me, said it's always been that way. I tend to disregard. Having never driven a 850 before, I was no judge. Was he right?
