Hello, i have posted before on my ignition problems, basically the dealer charged me £105.00 to replace the contact switch on the ignition.
It never solved the problem of the starter staying engaged for a second or 2 when the engine fires (not every time but 1 out of 3 i'd say).
So i took it back to the dealer who kept it for 2 days before announcing that there was no ignition fault (anymore) but the starter needs replacing as they reckon (never looked) there is a groove worn into the teeth which stops it from disengaging properly when it is in a certain position.
Does this sound feasible?
I asked for part of the £105.00 back seeing as there is no difference to the car from my point of view and they said they had fixed the problem that caused the starter problem and sorry no go.
How difficult is it for me to take the starter off and clean/check it for obvious problems before going back to the dealer for a replacement (£168.00 + labour + VAT)
Thanks,
Ian
