I had a problem with my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo stalling right as I tried to start it. It would act as if it was going to start and then it died. It did this several times. It seemed as if I let it set for a few minutes and then tried again, it would start. The problem was getting more frequent. I took it to a local garage that I have had good luck with and explained the problem. As it turned out, the problem was a bad fuel pump relay.
This model of Volvo has two of these relays, so rather than guessing which one was the problem, I had the garage replace both of them. One of them was $59.95 and the other one was $36.95. Labor and all it was around $200 to replace them and not only did it fix the problem, but my gas mileage has improved.
