Which FWD car is the best for reliability and ease of repair?

How do the FWD wagons compare, in terms of reliability and ease of repair, with our 740s? I ask because Posideon (please see my signature) was totaled a few days ago, and we would like to purchase a replacement that gets better gas mileage than she got.

The candidates to replace her are used V40s, V50s, V70s, V90s, another 740/940 wagon, and maybe a fairly new used C30 (my daughter's favorite, and a friggin' tiny-little car, if you ask me). May I ask you owners of FWD Volvos if you have any recommendations for or against any particular model or year of the cars that we are considering to replace Posideon. I am very comfortable working on the 740/940 cars, but have my doubts about working on the FWD cars because of the difficulty of repair/maintenance of the FWD cars.

Thank you,
Scott
