My 1996 850 Turbo sedan is coming to the end of its lease. The question is, should I dump it or buy it off the lease? Here are the details: It has 75,000 miles, has had impeccable maintainence. I am a pretty conservative driver and do not push or abuse the car in any way. However, it has never had any of the usual stuff happen yet. The evaporator is original, the tranny is fine, fluid looks fine, but has never been flushed. The overide switch has never gone bad. The rear brake pads will need replacement within a year. The fronts have been done. The exhaust is original, the battery the second. The CD player sometimes sticks and doesn't spit out the CD. The power window switches are balky due to a soda spilling into the center console where the switches are. The rear main was leaking oil and replaced at 49,000 miles. I can buy this car at the end of the lease for $14,500. What do you enthusiasts think? Shoul I be greatful that I haven't had an evaporator job, or a tranny, and just turn it in, or should I buy it and cross my fingers and hope that none of the usual stuff goes wrong?
I really like this car and I can't afford a new one. What do you guys think?
