After yesterday's annual rotate and balance at the local tire shop, the mechanic reported that the front rotors are below spec, the pads are worn out and one caliper is frozen -- I guess that explains the noise my wife has been hearing from the front of the car when she brakes.

With about 140K on the wagon now, I can't remember the last time we replaced anything on the front brakes so it's probably time to do so.

I know I need pads and rotors and probably two remaned calipers if I want to avoid brake issues for a while. I wondered if there are any recommended aftermarket brands to source these parts from or are the Volvo OE parts worth the extra money in terms of longevity?

There's a company that makes something called a frozen rotor that is some type of longer lasting rotor. Wondered if anyone has tried these on a Volvo and found any benefits? Also, not sure what the front hubs use for bearings but I wonder if at 140K it may be time for a replacement? Might be a nice time to do that with the brakes all a part.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. My family is well acquainted with the old cross-country and we plan to keep driving it for many years so I don't mind investing the time to search for better parts.
