As some of you might recognize my SN from another portion of the board, I'm originally a 245 owner, but decided it was getting too costly to repair it when I could buy a newer one for about the same cost.
And while I'm saddened that I'm going to be selling the Red Dwarf (an 85 245), the old gal served me well.
I had almost given up on buying an 850, because all of the ones in my area for the price range I was comfortable with, were not in good shape OR I wasn't sure if they were good anymore. But I found one owned by the original owner (well, the father bought it new, and then son owned it recently). Had been garaged it's whole life, but still had some wear and tear on the body. Nothing horrendous though (outside of a little fender bender).
And they kept INSANE maintenance records and almost everything was done at a local dealership in Portland. Including almost 4500+ bucks of repairs and fixings in 2009 alone.
the positives:
New tires
non smoker (thats actually my #1)
New timing belt at 145 (it has 178 now).
Absolutely NO leaking of anything (the owner would repair stuff BEFORE it became a problem).
Handles insanely nice
transmission replaced @ 88K
has a sun room (or moon roof, whatever).
Is incredibly clean.
Trunk still smells like a new car.
the bad:
AC doesn't work (but it might just be a leak).
Cruise doesn't work (I'm going to check the two most common areas that i found out about...brake switch and the area under the battery).
the motor that tilts the drivers seat forward is screwy.
fuel gauge stops at 2 gallons.
But seriously, outside of those things the car is a gem.
I've already driven it about 100 miles since I bought it and it handles smooooooooooth.
Just wanted to "introduce" myself. I know I'll find the cruise information here and maybe the fuel gauge issue too.
