rattlin chains 850 1995

I've been noticing a new noise coming from the underside of my car, near the front. Whenever I travel over rough surfaces (cobblestone elicits maximum effect), there is a rattling noise that sounds like a chain dragging on the ground. There's nothing hanging down underneath, but I have noticed the car hasn't been handling as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
