AC problem, not normal suspects 850

I finally got around to adding a can of R143a and to my surprise, the AC compressor kicked in and actually started to cool down the car. Less than 5 minutes later, the clutch kicked out and AC was off >:(

I got my stick out and pushed on the center of the clutch and NOTHING happened! The clutch is particularly rusted and probably hasn't been used in several years. SO, I pushed on the edge of the clutch and turned it about 1 inch and the clutch engaged! I did this several times and it is the only way to engage the clutch.

I didn't measure the clutch gap, but eye balling it, it looks pretty good for 160K miles. I was going to let the engine cool down before doing an actual measure.

BUT, turning the clutch to get it to engage is a new one for me. Remember, this is a "rescue" car and I cannot afford the expense of a compressor/clutch plus vacuuming out the system, etc.

Thanks

BTW, I will also post this on Matthews volvo site. I prefer talking to you guys.
