hard shifting 1st and 2nd gear 850 97

My 1997 850 GLT frequently shifts hard when accelerating through 1st and 2nd gear. There's a noticeable jolt when this occurs and its starting to get quite annoying. I presented this to the dealer a couple times and all they could tell me was that "volvos have a very positive shift engagement," and then ended up changing the transmission oil i think.

It may have been my imagination but right after the trans oil change, it seemed to be a softer shift, but it didn't take long for it to get back to its old self.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Or does anyone else with an 850 GLT have a similar experience? thanks in advance.
