Well, my rescue car is doing nicely. 29 mpg while cruising on the Interstate at 75 mph, all day long. I love the clutch action, the AC that works(!), nice seats, and lots of window glass for visibility.
What I don't like is the P0136 which pops up once in a while. That is the rear O2 sensor reaching its limit, which causes me to plug in the scanner and erase it - I don't like the CEL being on.
The main cause for the O2 sensor problem appears to be the 'flex' pipe after the manifold. I reached down and could easily turn the flex webbing, it is not attached at either end.
So, my QUESTION: has anyone thought about repairing the flex pipe????
I know, it can be cut off and the new part welded on, but I would like something cheaper and easier. I really don't want to remove the exhaust manifold, too many problems could surface, like broken bolts.
Is it possible to take muffler repair tape stuff and cover both ends of the flex? Or some other kind of option? Keep the suggestions coming.
Thanks
