Here's the whole deal:
I was having a drivability problem and the turbo boost gauge wouldn't go past half-way on my 97 850 T5. After 75 miles of driving, the check engine light came on. Then, the A/C started behaving strangely.
I took it to my dealer, Nils Sefeldt in Houston, and they called me with the following report:
$315 Vacuum leaks in the lines under the intake manifold. Mostly labor
$550 Front & Rear Oxygen sensors probably damaged from rich mixture with the vacuum leaks.
$1,914 A/C Leaks in the compressor and the evaporator.
$447 They pointed out that my rotors were warped and thin. (The brakes are working very well, but they noticed that I'm using aftermarket pads from IPD)
Total: $3226.
Hell, the car isn't even paid for. It just has 71,500 miles, and it has been well maintained. Now I see what people have been whining about in this forum. I'm starting to whine, myself, but mainly I'M MAD.
I don't think I want them to do any of the work. I can do the vacuum lines, the O2 sensors, and the rotors (I'll get the Slotline rotors from IPD), and I may end up pulling the entire dash assembly to replace the evaporator, but I shouldn't have to do this stuff. This is supposed to be a fine automobile. I just traded in my wife's 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 117,000 miles and we spent less than $750 on it the entire time we had it. This is a Volvo for pete's sake, I shouldn't have to spend $3200 at 70k, that's rediculous.
I'm really pissed. I was planning on keeping the car for a long, long time, but now I'm afraid it's really a time-bomb.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. (wanna buy a used 850?)
Thanks for listening,
