OK, I am sure this is going to be so simple, I will feel completely stupid....Please help!
Long story(kinda short)
car had a broken fuel line (infront of fuel filter). Replaced line and filter, drove the car (car was warmed and everything- ran rough but it had been sitting for a while). Got home and parked it.
put dry gas and injector cleaner in
Tried to start the next day, nothing (crank crank crank)...found no spark. diagnosed it to cam sensor.
Replaced cam sensor, have spark. new cam sensor dies, replace have spark again.
Now car cranks and cranks and no start. went the route of the "lawn mower syndrome" and actually burned up the starter motor.
Now have come to find that the car fires when you let off the keywith WOT!. Crank and crank and crank no start, let off the key back to run and the car fires with your foot on the floor..
BUT it fires out the intake! You would say timing. But this is an interference motor so timing would be detrimental. I did take the cap off, but never took the wires off. Cap and cam sensor only go on one way.
Tonight, with remote start switch and key in on position, crank and crank and crank (so ignition switch being bad is ruled out) no start until I let off the starter....Then it runs and exhaust out the intake!
I have also cut a hole at the front of the cat to "unplug" the exhaust.
It is like the car has started running in reverse!
Any wisdom? Why won't it fire when I crank? What can I check? That may solve the other problems, but if not why out the intake??? Too lean? only if it was backfires out the intake this is puffing smoke out the intak and if you put your hand over the intake to try and choke it, it blow it off.
