I hear different stories about the octane number to be used. Officially recommended is 98; allowed range is down to 91. In Europe the most logical to use is 95. 98 is about 10% more expensive. The risk of a too low octane number is "knocking", which is killing for the engine. However, since the allowed range starts with 91, I don't see too much a risk for knocking. A lower octane number probably decreases the engine output.
Has anyone a good advise for the non-turbo engine? What is your experience?
