Evaporator replacement - a Mercedes problem too 850 93

An article in the current Import Car (repair mag geared to shops) mentions how evaporator replacements are becoming a very common repair for Mercedes owners. The shocking part was the 22 hour labor estimate for some models. Unfortunately, no info was given on a root cause but I'm wondering if M-B's have PAG A/C systems also.
