I have enjoyed the advice and instruction from this site for years (two Volvos ago). I put a Classified Ad a couple of weeks ago to test the water. Viewed by 56 but no bites. I haven't had the nerve to go eBay or Craigslist because I can't decide and I really value other Volvo nuts' opinions. I bought my 1999 V70R in December of 2006 with 70,000 miles. I have taken many road trips in it and really love that car...daily commuter too. A few weeks ago it started running rough while passing a car (not aggressively...didn't even downshift). Top of the hill was fine. Later that day it started skipping and I naturally assumed ignition coil (had happened a few times). I keep a spare and determined it to be #4 so I replaced it at work...still skipping so I nursed it home. After exhausting all other checks, I checked compression and all are 180+ dry and #4 didn't wiggle the needle at 0. Burnt valve. Tried the Seafoam and the 4000 RPM for a few minutes hoping for stuck valve...no luck. I am debating on selling it instead of tackling. Lots going on with my father at the end of a long battle with cancer and my own family too. Any thoughts or interest? It is silver with the beige/tan interior. It actually has wood trim which I've heard is more rare. Driver's seat looks rough but still comfy and everything still works (except pass. window switch came apart). I've bought the head gasket set, cam locking tool, new head bolts, and exhaust seal (slight leak at downpipe). I can provide pictures if wanted...love the car but just not sure I have time for it. Clock is at 216,000 miles. 99 was the first year for throttle by wire (no issues) and last for the bulletproof 4 speed auto. Still have the drive shaft but took it out as I live in GA and the front CV joint went out. Your thoughts?
