My car intermittantly has an issue where the key refuses to turn in the ignition. It won't move past 0. The steering wheel isn't locked when this happens, although can get locked in the process of trying to wiggle the steering wheel in an attempt to solve the problem.
My husband's key doesn't have this issue.
Is this possibly just an issue of a worn key? Or is the lock mechanism in the ignition on it's way out?
Would graphite powder help? WD 40?
Any solutions would be advised.
Also I just had the PNP switch replaced on this car about 1 month ago because the reverse lights weren't working. That was expensive and the ignition lock system will be, too, if that is what it is (about 650$$).
I've been a Volvo driver for years, but am about ready to give up on them altoghter at this point.
Look forward to your responses.
