I'm 99% certain I need a new air mass sensor for my 94 850 (no turbo). Shop has diagnosed it twice, but wants over $300 for the part, I grabbed one off ebay for $75 and put it in. The car would not run, and basically did exactly what it was doing when the air mass flow sensor was failing. I contacted the seller to return it and they said they would, but first asked if I had reset the computer (by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes) to make sure I didn't need to do that to get the new sensor working.
Do I need to do that? That makes no sense to me but . . . I told him I'd try it and thought I'd see if someone here can answer the question if I should have to do that or not.
The part was new in packaging so it seemed odd that it wouldn't work. Is it possible that it's not really for a 94 even though they listed it as such? Different meters for turbo vs non turbo?
Thanks for any tips!
