Help! Glove box door will not open!!! 850 1994

I need some advice, my glove box door on my 94, 850 will not open. The handle is free as though it is locked, but it is not. I have tried the key locking and unlocking, with no results. I cannot find a non-invasive way to "break in" to the compartment without damaging things. Any advise would be greatly apprecieated especially before a traffic stop!
