Replacement horn sounds muffled and stops working 850

When I bought my 850, one thing that was bad about it was that the horn always sounded muffled.

Recently i got my hands on another horn (from a Cadillac actually) and replaced the two of them.

And now the horn still sounds muffled, and further, stops working after a while. The fuse is fine (I checked).

And sometimes the low horn beeps, and the high horn beeps (depending on where I push on the steering wheel).



Any ideas? Could the contacts in the steering wheel be the culprit?
