Air conditioner lights blink at startup V70-XC70 1998

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the lights on my a/c unit started blinking intermittently when I started the car. I took it to the dealer, but they claimed that I had one side set to heat and the other to cool, causing an error in the system. I have both set to the same temp, however, and theis still happens. Does anyone know what causes the blinking and how to fix it?
