Question T5-R or 850R How do I tell 850 1997

I have a 1997 850R. But the engine code sticker on the plastic timing belt cover says its a B52347T5 and vin nimber indicates its a 2.4 litre (24 are 6th and seventh numbers in vin code) which would make it 144 cubic inches and I have a tag under the hood which says its 144 cubic inches. But i'm thinking its a 2.3 litre because the 850R has 2.3 litre and not 2.4 litre right???
